Community Environment Day

With perfect late-summer weather, Community Environment Day in Fred Hamilton Park was a great success. It was a chance for people to dispose of batteries, old  paint, etc. in an environmentally friendly way and, for the first time this year, to pick up bagged compost. Ice cream with an amazing array of toppings, juice, and coffee were served at Fred’s Community kitchen and proved a real hit with both kids and adults alike.
Councillor Mike Layton and his three-year-old daughter joined the festivities.
Thanks to Vanessa for providing information on Vermiculture and scooping ice cream. Thanks also to the Events Committee, Rhea, Tim, Pat, and Bob for planning the event, and special thanks to Rhea for all the shopping and scooping of ice cream during the entire event without a break!
Stay tuned for information on our spooky Kids Halloween Party in late October!
