Community Events

Community Environment Day: The City is sponsoring Community Environment Day in Fred Hamilton Park on Saturday, April 15, 2017 from 10:00 until 2:00.

A sure sign of spring, E-day is a great opportunity to pick up some free compost for your spring garden and to recycle old computers, batteries, paint, etc. in an environmentally friendly way.

FoRRP will be offering a chance for you to adopt one of the new trees coming this spring and hear about the many upcoming park events. We are also accepting donations of all manner of kitchen supplies, from small, new and used appliances to plates, cups, and beyond for our exciting soon-to-be-open kitchenette!

Also for the first time, College-Montrose Children’s Place will be hosting an exciting Easter Egg Hunt for children starting at 11:00 AM. After the Easter Egg Hunt, families are welcome to participate in circle time with story-telling and parachute games. Arts and Crafts will be available for all ages at the CMCP table as well.

So join your friends and neighbours for an exciting fun-filled day and help kick off another year of bocce, soccer, frisbee, pingpong, picnics, and other park events. See  you in the park!

Community Cleanup Day is happening on Earth Day Saturday April 22, 2017 from 10:00 until Noon. If you enjoy the City parks, we hope you will join us, even if just for a few minutes in Roxton Road Parkette, George Ben Park or Fred Hamilton Park and Playground.

Everything for the cleanup will be provided (supplies located near Bocce Courts) but we could use some rakes so please bring one if you have one. As always, a special prize for the most “exotic” find of the cleanup will be awarded. It will be a real challenge to top a stuffed purple giraffe and UFO parts found in previous years! See  you in the park!
