On Saturday, August 18th the Friends of Roxton Road Parks celebrated their 1st Annual Neighborhood Block Party. It was a picture-perfect day with lots of sun, but mild with a gentle breeze. There was a wonderful festive air with fantastic music (thanks Tim!), nine tables selling wonderful items in the garage sale, a super BBQ (thanks Marguerett!), a great raffle (thanks Rhea!), a delicious bake sale (thanks Jill!), and “Who is Fred Hamilton” T-shirts (thanks Jeremy of Peace and Cotton for production, Shani for design, and Bob for initiating!).
In addition to being a wonderful chance for people to meet neighbours, have fun, and pick up some exciting garage-sale items, the Block Party was also a fundraiser, and we raised close to $800 for the Parks Revitalization Project. Thanks to Marco Bianchi and Councillor Mike Layton for all their advice and support. Special thanks to the Events committee for all their hard work as well. Next year may be bigger but it is hard to imagine that it could be any better!
